A member asked:

Because i'm family, can i directly donate an organ to my grandpa even if he may not be on the top of the donor list?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wow..U R so selfless: Wow! i commend you for being so kindhearted and generous--donating a kidney? The better the match/genetic compatibity, the higher chance of success and less complication for your grandpa. If there is too much of an incompatibilty between u and grandpa, there is too much risk. So, talk to the doc to find out what is going on. We need more kind/selfless people like you on this earth. Good luck.
