A member asked:

Despite severe knee pain after surgery, is it safe to force it to bend?

Cartilage nutrition: After any joint surgery it is advisable to start motion asap, because if you do not use it, you loose it. If motion is not stated, people usually will have considerable pain, because nutrition to cartilage is introduced into cells by compression and de fusion, which is movements only.

Discuss with surgeon: Knee motion expected and allowed after surgery depends specifically upon the surgery performed. Only your surgeon and treatment team can tell you what to expect with regards to pain and how much motion is allowed. Please check with your team for the answer to this question.
