COLD IS SELF LIMITED: Common cold gets better by itself, and one may use decongestants for symptom relief. Keep hugrated to keep secretions thin, keep the drainage to prevent complications and short term use of decongeastants like sudafed in severe cases is all that is needed it will take its course, there is definitely no need for antibiotics for common cold.

Don't fight-- rest!: Common colds are inevitable and most people get a few every year. Despite multiple attempts to find a good prevention, none of the many over the counter remedies really do much to prevent them. Handwashing and avoiding those who are sick helps though. Once you have a cold treat the symptoms to make yourself as comfy as possible and rest and take care of your self. You will get better in 5-7 days.
