Rarely, but happens: Female infertility or primary ovarian insufficiency may be due to fragile x premutations or chromosomal problems like turner syndrome. Pcos probably has a genetic component too. Male infertility may be genetically inherited including y chromosome microdeletions. There are also genetic causes of recurrent miscarriage such as male or female chromosome translocations. Cystic Fibrosis: Yes, it is possible. Some patients with the inherited disease ( genetic disorder ) cystic fibrosis have congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens. They usually have normal testicles but the tube which is responsible for carrying the sperm cells from the testes to the urethra may be absent on both sides, from birth. If that transport tube is absent on both sides then infertility results.
