EpiPen (epinephrine) Jr: In addition to your precautions at home, make sure child has written emergency action plan at school and access to Epipen (epinephrine) (home and school) for any signs of anaphylaxis. Be sure to replace with new prescription each year even when unused.

Tree nut allergy??: If he has a history of tree nut allergy then avoidance and Epinephrine auto-injector. Oral desensitization may be available shortly. If no history of previous sensitvity there is no indicated "prevention". If there is a history if other documented food allergy, especially peanut or shellfish, you should already have an auto-injector. Check with a board certified allergist if still concerned.

There are options including avoiding all nut containing products, including oils and fragrances, an allergy plan should include review of food labels, cleaning cooking surfaces and an EPI Pen as appropriate. Has there been an allergic reaction or was the diagnosis based on a blood test? Recognize hives and wheezing signs of an allergic reaction. Discuss Desensitization protocols w Allergist.
