Depends: Periodontitis will cause your gums to move down and you will see more of your tooth root. This root sensitivity can be resolved by; 1. Densensizing tooth pastes like denquel & prevident & clinpro 2. Flouride gels like gelkam . If you are getting dental gum treatments and flossing , then gum tenderness should resolve in a week or check with your dentist.

Variable: Sensitivity following perdontal treatments or scaling should resolve in 1week. Surgical treatment will take longer to resolve. Periodontal disease is a lifelong condition so sensitivity assoc with the disease itself will be present always but some episodes will be worse than others.
