4-6 weeks: Once the abscess is treated (drainage and antibiotics), there can be residual lumpiness that is inflammed tissue. This can take at least 4-6 weeks to resolve and feel like "normal" lumpy breast tissue.

Abscess: Please make sure your doctor has you on antibiotics. You should improve in 1 week. Continue breast feeding or pumping. If it becomes more red, hot and firmer, you may have an abscess. This needs to be drained in order to see improvement.
