Biofilm infects vasc: http://cro.sagepub.com/content/15/6/403.short. Plaque is a biofilm containing bacterial that for some unknow reason have a predilection for heart and vascular tissue. The relationship is statistical and exact mechanism theoretical. The above reference has more info.
