Not likely: Do you know that the cyst is benign? It not possible to know that without removing the cyst and having it examined by a pathologist. Benign and malignant cysts may look the same on imaging. Bening cysts do not turn into malignant ones, and certainly not once those are removed.

No: I qualify that saying anything possible in medicine. Benign means just that. There are pre cancerous lesions so one has to be careful when telling a pt something is benign. If your doc is careful he will never say benign if there is some even remote possibility of cancer later. That is the way i practiced anyway. I hope whoever said that to you is careful!. Always be vigilant watching it!
