Bipolar disorder: Hi , bipolar disorder is diagnostically different from personality disorders. Some research would suggest that some forms of bipolar disorder exists coexist with personality disorders in about 1/3 of the patients, sometimes higher. Personality disorders are more pervasive and consistent pattern of dysfunction since late adolescence whereas bipolar disorder can be an episodic illness
