Otolaryngology: It's important to begin by discussing the problems with your pcp who might refer you to a otolaryngologist or speech therapist, depending on the symptoms and other findings from initial examination. Most vocal problems are not severe, and "vocal rest" can be helpful for overuse problems. But, occasionally a voice problem is an early sign of throat cancer. So, don't delay in making an appointment.
