I doubt that is the: Case of the hips dislocating or subluxating unless you had congenital hip dysplasia that went untreated. More than likely this is snapping tendon about the hip region or possibly a cartilage tear known as a labral tear. If it is painful, see an orthopedic surgeon or a physiatrist.

Instability: It is typically either a instability of the hips, sometimes seen in people with generalized ligamentous laxity; or there are people with what is known as a snapping hop syndrome from a number of different causes. Don't hesitate to be seen and evaluated for a specific diagnosis.
