What are those sunglasses the eye doctor gives you when your eyes are dilated?

For comfort: Your pupils are opened with drops to help visualize the posterior portion of the eye - optic nerve and retina. They cannot help you reduce the intensity of brights lights for a few hours - the dark glasses help with the discomfort.
