Practical question: Many medications cause anticholinergic side effects, which can temporarily worsen cognition, but an upper respiratory tract infection needs some help. Could try nasal rinses, and perhaps use a nasal decongestant spray, which would have less systemic effect. If sinusitis develops, then an antibiotic will be necessary.
