Blue: No solid research that i know of but- not red. Blue/lighter shade will likely be best.

Pastel flats: As dr. Becker noted lighter shades and pastels make for eye comfort. Try to stay away from highly saturated colors and paint that is too shiny - a good eggshell works well. If the room in very light you may wish to try a little darker and flatter paint finish.

Take breaks : Doing close work such as computer work or reading gives eye strain for 2 reasons. Muscles inside eyes get tired and you blink less causing dry red eyes. Close eyes for few seconds after each page of reading. Use nonglaring paint. Use a antiglare screen OB computer only if you find it soothing.
