HPT: Hpt very accurate if done properly. I would wait one week and take another hpt and be sure to follow all the directions for a proper test in the alternative you could see your OB in a week and take a test.

Technique: To get accurate results you need to follow the instructions for the test carefully, including the time within which you must read the test. If you have any doubt, get a blood test for HCG level.
