Maybe, in a way: Beets are high in nitrates, like most fruits and veggies. Beet juice is even more potent in this. Also it's a great antioxidant, and the high boron content may benefit sex hormone balance. The body converts nitrates into nitric oxide, a compound that enhances blood flow throughout the body -- including sex organs -- and helps lower blood pressure. Viagra (sildenafil) works through a similar mechanism.

NOT SURE?: The beets belong to the same family as chard and spinach. Beet leaves have a bitter taste like chard, but is rich in chlorophyll. Although bitter, the greens have a higher nutritional value than its roots. Beets are loaded with vitamins a, b1, b2, b6 and c. The greens have a higher content of iron compared to spinach. They are also an excellent source of calcium, magnesium, copper, phosphorus.
