Two types of clot: Arterial blood clot usually causes sudden loss of pulse in the leg. It is quite painful & may be associated with pallor, paralysis, coldness, or numbness. It is more common in older patients, often with arrhythmias or irregular heart beats. Venous clots usually cause swelling and pain, although they can be entirely silent or asymptomatic. These may occur at any age, most commonly after immobility.
