Manipulation: Many times if someone is lock jawed from dislocation, a procdedure to pull the jaw out of dislocation is used. Dentists are trained to do this procedure so make sure you go to your dentist for the treatment.

Reduction w sedation: Generally, the patient is sedated and the dislocated jaw is manipulated manually back into position using a downward and then forward motion. It must be done by a medical professional - a dentist or physician familiar with jaw joint anatomy. The patient will be cautioned to eat a soft diet temporarily and not to reopen too widely because it can recur.

Manipulation: True dislocation is jaw "out of socket". Not related to TMJ disk displacement. Required manipulation, sometimes with just local anesthesia, sometimes with sedation or general anesthesia. Best person for this is oral surgeon. Can be very painful!!

Easy fix: Jaw dislocation can be easily fixed in an emergency room or by and oral surgeon in an office. Usually this procedure requires mild sedation.
