Possible TMJ Problem: Unless you have a history of trauma to the face or jaws a break in the bones is highly unlikely. A dislocation of the disc or meniscus of the joint can be possible. Your symptoms suggest a possible TMJ disorder. An evaluation with your dentist would be recommended as the starting point to treat your problem.

Temporomandibular Jt: The TMJ is the hinge joint that connects the lower jaw to the temporal bone of the skull. Head trauma, whiplash, teeth grinding, arthritis, stress, etc can contribute to TMJ disorders. See an ENT physician or orofacial pain specialist to determine whether you have a TMJ disorder vs parotitis, etc. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/temporomandibularjointdysfunction.html
