A member asked:

What medication is good for a small anal fissure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Proctofoam: Over the counter medicines--anusol hc. Prescription medicines--nitropaste and a new formula of nitropaste called rectiv. Proctofoam hc also works well. While treating anal fissure, it is important to keep stool soft with softeners or fiber to help prevent recurrence. Recurrence is nevertheless common, and if one has a lot of trouble, surgical injection of Botox or sphincterotomy may be done.
