What are the signs of a staph infection on lab test?

Dr. Ziad Akl answered

High WBC's: Not all staph infections are serious enough to cause abnormal lab tests. When the infection is serious, it can cause a high white blood cell count and you may be able to culture the bacteria from the blood or other infected areas.
