See your doctor: If the eye pain only lasts for a few seconds, it can be caused by dry eyes. If it is more constant, you should be looked at by your eye doctor.

Sudden eye pain: With no external cause (trauma, etc) then eye pain can be spontaneous (we call them lightning pains lasting 1-3 seconds and causing no problem), or it may be caused by a variant of recurrent erosion syndrome (weak attachment of the corneal epithelium), or by the sudden entrance of a foreign granule into the eye. If persistent or changing the vision, see your ophthalmologist.
