My sister has fever since long and she has esr level of 42 and high cholesterol.her doctor has put her on antibiotics.her chest xray is normal.what could be wrong? can u recommend any test? she gets cold easily.thanx in advance :)

FUO: Your sister has (by definition) a fever of unknown origin. There is a long list of causes and a standard diagnostic approach. Treating her with empiric antibiotics may not be the best approach if the source of fever is unknown. She should see an infectious disease specialist if her primary doctor isn't fairly certain of the cause.
