Avoid decongestants.: Best to check with your nephrologist for specific advice that is tailored to you. Many cold medicines with decongestants can raise blood pressure and most dialysis patients already have high blood pressure. Coricidin HBP contains medicines that will not affect your blood pressure so this may me a safe option.

Cold renedies: Homemade chicken noodle soup can help to mobilize mucus & has an anti-inflammatory effect. Hydrate well with clear broths, water or add a small amount of lemon to Chamomile tea. Pour boiling water over thinly sliced ginger. Steep 5 min. in a covered pot.

I love garlic when I have a cold, also fresh fruits high in vitamin C. Ginger ale is the best as well to help an ailing tummy.
