Cataract surgery: Various techniques for removal of cataract, most common being extracapsular extraction using phacoemulsification. Femtosecond laser is being tried to assist in creating incisions and cutting the cataract into pieces that are then aspirated out. Cataract surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure and patient's are commonly awake but with local/topical anesthesia.

Phacoemulsification: Phaco emulsification is the most advanced form of cataract surgery. Most is done with ultrasound but recently, laser assisted surgery has brought on a big buzz. Jury is still out on the laser!
