Is heart disease fatal?

5 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Some are, some not: Heart disease ranges from trivial (i had a mitral valve that's floppy) to deadly (when it can't pump effectively, life's over, or at least the life you want is over.) if you have a heart diagnosis, talk frankly with your phyiscian; the world's full of folks who've heard "heart disease" but don't know that their form isn't life-threatening. Can you exercise? You'll probably live!

Yes/No: Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death world wide. Not everyone who gets heart disease will die from it however.
