Generally, yes.: Scrotal ultrasounds (us) are very sensitive for determining the presence of testicular masses, cysts, and relatively sensitive for detecting infection. Doppler studies done by us are very good at determining blood flow and evaluating torsion. Though us can make a diagnosis of tumor, it usually cannot reliably predict the type of cancer. The experience of the technician also makes a difference.
