Preeclampsia compli : Hellp syndrome is a life-threatening obstetric complication usually considered to be a variant or complication of pre-eclampsia. Both conditions usually occur during the later stages of pregnancy, or sometimes after childbirth. "hellp" is an abbreviation of the three main features of the syndrome: hemolysis elevated liver enzymes low platelet count.

Severe Pre Eclampsia: Hellp syndrome is a form of severe pre eclampsia that is characterized by elevated blood pressures +protein in the urine, he - hemolysis (the breakdown of red blood cells), el-elevated liver enzymes and lp-low platelet count. Patients may experience severe headaches, blurred vision, abdominal pain, nausea, swelling... Most often this occurs late in the pregnancy. The cause for hellp is unknown.
