Get seen immediately: Urinary retention by bladder clots should be addressed immediately in the urology clinic or in the emergency room. Although the bleeding from a bladder source is rarely life threatening, it must be addressed quickly and the obstruction alleviated as soon as possible. The bladder must be irrigated to remove all clots, and bladder irrigation started if bleeding continues.
