Yes, it may: If you're on oral contraceptives, the tegretol may interfere with how well they work, causing breakthrough bleeding or increasing the risk of pregnancy. Tegretol also affects sex hormone binding proteins and decreases estrogen production. There are many reports of tegretol stopping periods (secondary amenorrhea). Discuss these problems with your doctor.
