It should be checked: I don't want to alarm you, but it is highly likely you have a basal cell cancer on the face--the most common type of skin cancers. Being age 60 living in florida, my first guess would be this type of cancer. It is often cured by simple complete excision. I certainly hope I am wrong, but this sounds quite suspicous. Please consult doc for eval. Good luck.
