Etiology: Usually medications in this situation is only acting like a "band-aid" so it's important that you go to someone with advanced training in not only treating but diagnosing.

Not drugs...: I usually treat these issues with occlusal splints coupled with a steroid for the first week of splint therapy. This works with 99% of cases. A properly-fabricated occlusal splint will do much more than any pill.

Varies: Medications such as gabapentine, Clonazepam and clonadine have been shown to decrease sleep bruxism. Also in severe cases, onabotulinum toxin a has been shown to provide temporary help.
