Several answers: The problem lies most likely in your neck but could include thoracic outlet syndrome exacerbated by straining or a cervical nerve root compression made symptomatic by straining. These mechanisms could cause pain in the same distribution as the ulnar nerve at the elbow, hence pain in the "funny bone". Other much rarer conditions also exist.
