Minimal n good hands: Generally, surgery during pregnancy is safest in the early second trimester, when the organs are more accessible (uterus not too large yet). I would recommend surgery for an ovarian cyst if thought to be a dermoid (aka teratoma) because of the risk of twisting, or if cancer is suspected. Most simple (fluid filled) cysts are benign and could wait until after delivery.
