Symptoms and urine: Examination. Symptoms include burning on urination, fever, frequency of urination, smelly urine etc, urine has white cells and protein and on culture bacteria will grow. Urine analysis: Most urinary tract infections can be diagnosed through dipstick analysis. More complicated infections may require examination of the urine under the microscope and urine culture to identify the type of bacteria that is present in the urine.
