What is a common cause of sudden leg soreness/leg pain?

Possible Clot: A patient presenting to me with the symptoms of sudden leg pain, soreness, or swelling is always concerning for me. With many reasons why this may occur, the most worriesome, would be the possibility of a blood clot in the leg. If i suspect a clot, i send the patient to the ed for an ultrasound of the leg to rule out that diagnosis.
