Folic acid: Folic acid (400mcg daily) has been shown to reduce the risk of certain birth defects. One should avoid undercooked meats, esp lamb, cold cuts and fish that are high in mercury or other heavy metals - these include shark, swordfish, tile fish, king mackerel, and chilean sea bass. One should not smoke, drink alcohol or use recreational drugs. Other issues are best addressed with your caregiver.
