Can hydrochlorothiazide work for pulmonary hypertension?

Pulmonary HTN: Idiopathic (no clear cause) pulmonary hypertension usually results from over-squeezing of the arteries between the lungs and the heart. The best way to treat this squeezing is medicine that will relax the muscle in these blood vessels. Hydrochlorithiazide does not work this way and is not considered to be effective treatment for pulmonary hypertension.

Sometimes: Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic. Patients with phtn tend to retain fluid, so they need diuretics.

PH: Patients with pulmonary hypertension (ph) are prone to fluid retention and swelling. Physicians may use diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide to treat the excess fluid.
