Muscle strain: There are several joints and intervertebral discs in the spine. These can wear out over time leading to pain. Degeneration of the joints or discs can cause back pain. You can also get back pain from a muscle strain. In some cases pain in the middle of your back could be related to chest conditions or your heart so be sure to see you physician.
