A member asked:

Please explain pain in back when i cough?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Referred pain: When you cough you increase the pressure in your chest and your neck and head. If you have coughed a lot, you can strain muscles in the chest which can be painful. This increased pressure can also disturb nerves in the neck which supply the back and cause referred pain. If persistent see your family doctor for analysis and treatment.
