Bleeding ulcer: Anti-inflammatory medications, such as Ibuprofen or naproxen, which are commonly taken for cramps, can cause the lining of the stomach and small intestine to wear down and an ulcer to form. The ulcer can ooze blood, which turns the stool black like tar. Also, pepto bismol (bismuth subsalicylate) or iron supplements are common causes. In any case, get it evaluated before any more blood might be lost!

Hi Doc, My stool smells like burning rubber. It's not solid but not watery either. I have trapped wind and cramps. I take the mini pill, don't bleed, and I'm having menstrual symptoms. Are they connected? or could the rubbery smell be something else?
Ive been having little black things that float appear with my stool during a bowel movement. I havent really ate anything darn colored that could cause this, and the smell of the stool was foul. Smelled acidic almost?
