See Your Doctor: See your doctor to be tested to see if you are still ovulating and that you are still producing the hormones needed to ovulate and maintain a pregnancy. Additionally, at 40 you are in a high risk category and there is an increased chance that the baby may be at higher risk.

Early pregnancy test: The most effective way to determine if you are pregnant is an early pregnancy test. Most home pregnancy tests can detect pregnancy 5 days before your missed period. If your cycles are regular, you may take a test 5 days before you expect your period. If negative, wait until one week after missing your period and repeat the test.

Missed period: If you can, try to get an inexpensive pregnancy test from the pharmacy, especially if you normally have a period every 28 days. If you have missed a period, then watch for signs of morning sickness and breast tenderness as well.

Unable to conceive: 24 yo female with inability to conceive. If you have not been able to conceive for more than one year, you and your partner will need to see a gynecologist for evaluation as follows: 1. Semen analysis for your partner. 2. You will need TVS on Cycle day 2 to evaluate your ovary. 3. Fsh, Lh, Tsh on cycle day 4 to 5. 4. Hsg on cycle day 10. Review all the above result with your doctor. Good luck.
