A member asked:

What causes mild and brief blackouts upon standing up?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Blood filling veins: When we stand up rapidly, gravity pulls the blood down towards our feet. The veins in our legs swell to accomadate this. This is like some one suddenly removed a pint or more of blood. Our heart rate increass and our blood pressure falls. This can make people feel faint or dizzy. When you take blood press medicines it can make the dizziness more noticalbe.
