Hydration!: Keep hydrated-clear liquids that contain both calories and electrolytes are the best. (an oral electrolyte solution like pedialyte, esp. For severe cases or young children. Gatorade/powerade for mild. If vomiting-small sips-1 tsp every 10 minutes will be well tolerated. If diarrhea-consider imodium (loperamide). Watch urine output-if it decreases, call your doctor.

GI Flu: Start with clear liquid like water, soda that is clear, or sports hydration drinks. Sip, sip, sip. Work up to solids with bland foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, gelatin, or chicken. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, dairy ; high fat foods. Rest. If you are having frequent, chronic symptoms - it may not be due to viral infections. If this is the case, med eval would be prudent.
