A member asked:

Could an anticoagulant make a person wheeze?

Not usually: This would be a very unusual side effect of warfarin/coumadin or heparin. Your doctor should be looking for other causes/sources for wheezing.

Yes: Rarely Coumadin (warfarin) can cause wheezing but i would be more concerned with a pulmonary embolism causing respiratory symptoms including wheezing. A pulmonary embolism due to a blood clot is possible if the Coumadin (warfarin) is not taken as directed of if the dosage is not adjusted correctly or if other medications interact with coumadin (warfarin). If you have new wheezes while on Coumadin (warfarin) then see your doctor asap.
