A member asked:

Can internet addiction cause depression?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

More likely reverse: Depression is more likely to lead to excessive use of the internet than the reverse. However, spending all of your time on the internet is likely to lead to poor sleep habits, poor dietary choices, and withdrawal from family and friends. These things can all exacerbate depression. Internet use should be limited to less than 2 hrs/day for non-work purposes.
