FeelsLikeThe1stTime: A recurrent inguinal hernia will manifest itself as a bulge in the groin, not unlike any inguinal hernia. It is usually a gradual process so there is no sign of trauma like bruising or bleeding. Surgical rx can be a little tricky the 2nd time around--as a general trend, if it was fixed one way the 1st time (open), we tend to recommend the alternate (laparoscopic) the 2nd time.

Pain swelling: Some times , yes hernia will recur due to various reasons, will have pain and bulge, but no bleeding or bruising . Small recurrences in obese are difficult to detect, see your doctor if you have pain and not sure what it is.
