A member asked:

6 weeks after laparoscopic, bilateral inguinal hernia repair with mesh, should i still have significant swelling of the groin?

Not uncommon: It is common to have a small amount of swelling in the groin following hernia repair (i warn my patients that it may feel like a hernia initially). This should get smaller in time & shouldn't fluctuate in size with activity. This is usually gone by 6 weeks but I have seen some patients w/swelling as long as 12 weeks later.

Talk to the surgeon: It is about the time the swelling will be subsiding , some times it may take little longer depending on the extent of dissection, speak to the surgeon.
