Depends: If the darkening is because of increased pigment then otc fading creams may help. If the darkening is just from thickening, which can be common on the knees and elbows, then a "keratolytic" may help. This is something like salicylic acid or urea that will help soften the area. Seeing a dermatologist would also be helpful as he/she could also prescribe something for you.
